This screen seems cold and lonely, don't you know,
To anyone who watches from afar;
Yet in this soft, although electric, glow
I find such joy, for this is where you are.
It seems so very curious to me
That even though I haven't known you long,
You still can make me smile so happily,
As though your words are chords of some sweet song.
I often hope to show you what it means
Whene'er you send me messages and cheer,
But actions are so limited by screens
That sentiments sometimes get lost, I fear...
That said, please know that when my skies are grey
It's you who lights them up again, dear Nai.

I wrote this for a dear friend who lives across the sea from me. We communicate through Skype, and she's been so incredibly supportive to me even though we only met relatively recently... This is my way of saying thank you.
It's an English sonnet, with the typical abab cdcd efef gg meter and iambic pentameter and whatnot.
